"Millennials Can't Cook": Does it Even Mattter?

Did you know that there is really a statistic out in these streets that says that 50-60% of millennials can not roast a chicken? See the full post here

Now this may be like a “whatever” to you, and to me because hey…we can literally buy a whole roasted chicken at Costco for 5.99…or Key Food…or Whole Foods…or literally any grocery store. But the thought and reality of the financial status and ways to make a life definitely matter to me, and I would argue many other millennials.

I believe millennials are the generation that will make our world an accountable place to live in. We are a generation that cares, that strives to connect with passion and people, and the generation that stares non-physical adversity in the face and conquers it over and over again.

How does this relate to the kitchen?

At FoodForYummies is for people who want to feel at home wherever they live. As a millennial who has moved 17 times in 10 years…I know the challenge like so many others of having to recreate that good ol “home feeling.” Home is something you make, not an address you live in. It doesn’t matter if you live with your partner, your hubs, your wife, with roommates, with your parents, with your pets, your plants or just your beautiful self. You deserve to feel at home.

I believe food IQ and kitchen skills can help you to get to the feeling of home wherever you are. By learning how to make a few dishes well, you save time, save money, and engage in self care that puts you on a different emotional plane. We are bosses at takeout…there is a journey left uncharted in the kitchen.

So, they say we suck at cooking. Millennials can’t roast a chicken. Does it matter?

You decide.

What I say, is there is nothing like a home cooked meal. It feels best when someone does it for you, but even better when you do it yourself.

It’s never too late to learn.
